Over forty-five senior healthcare professionals and educators from across the UAE stepped away from their desks, clinics and hospitals on May 4th & 5th for the Faculty Development Program by the American College of Physicians.  This was the first as part of the partnership between our two organizations in our new state of the art facility.

Dr. Jack Ende, President of the American College of Physicians, led the proceedings supported by Dr. Emily Stewart (Associate Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University) and Dr. Heather Laird-Fick (Associate Professor of Medicine Michigan State University).

They inspired the delegates in identifying new ways in which interprofessional education can be innovated to the benefit of the industry. The faculty shared the joy they feel when they meet the unspoken needs of their colleagues and clients after going the
extra mile to discover what they really wanted, and Dr. Ende encouraged the attendees to challenge themselves to a higher standard of work.

Delegates felt a new sense of purpose towards their staff and colleagues, and felt motivated to do more than lecture them to get the job done.  It encouraged them to create learning experiences that will support better healthcare provision as well as ongoing professional development.  With motivation from colleagues, a chance to interact with key industry thought leaders, and several insightful breakout sessions, it was a successful and well received start of a series of collaborations.
